Logo

In order to maintain consistent branding and identity across the board’s communications, we provide the following assets and guidelines regarding the use of the CRCCRRB name, logo, colors, typography, and other assets.

Logo Variations

Primary Logo

This is the primary logo and should be used in the majority of applications.

Black Logo

This logo should be used in applications requiring just a 1-color black on lighter backgrounds.

Reverse Logo

This logo should be used in applications requiring a 1-color reverse on darker backgrounds.

File Type Usage

This logo is being provided in several different file formats, in the various color builds that are appropriate for the common usage for each respective format. Here are some general usage guidelines for each.

• EPS: Encapsulated Postscript

  This vector-based format is scalable virtually infinitely and is not subject to resolution. These can be placed with a transparent background. Suitable to use for page layout documents such as InDesign, or as art for dies, stamps, or printing.

• JPEG: Joint Photographic Experts Group

  This format is raster based and subject to resolution considerations when scaling up. These are flat meaning they will have a white background when placed. Suitable to use for MS Word, web or multimedia use.

• PNG: Portable Network Graphic

  Raster based and subject to resolution considerations when scaling up. These can be placed with a transparent background. Suitable for web or multimedia use.

• PDF: Portable Document Format

  This format is vector-based and is scalable virtually infinitely and is not subject to resolution. These can be placed with a transparent background. Suitable to use for page layout documents such as InDesign for printing.

• AI: Adobe Illustrator

  This is original vector-based format is scalable virtually infinitely and is not subject to resolution. These can be placed with a transparent background. Suitable to use for page layout documents such as InDesign for printing.

Minimum Size

To maintain legibility and definition, the suggested minimum size for the secondary logo is 1 inch wide.

Clear Space

It is recommended that the logo have clear space measuring a minimum of 1/8th the height of the logo on all sides.

Usage

• The color logo should primarily be used on a white background.
• Use the logo on a solid color backgrounds (see color options).
• Use the logo on top of a light greyscale photographs.

Incorrect Usage

• Do not apply drop-shadows or effects to the logo.
• Do not crop the logo.
• Do not skew or alter the shape of the logo.
• Do not use on color photographs.
• Do not use on any pattern backgrounds.
• Do not use the color logo on dark backgrounds to maintain contrast.

Typography

Baskerville

The logo is based on the font Baskerville, which has plenty of various faces and weights should you decide to use it in the rest of your branding to feel cohesive with the logo.

Baskerville does require a paid license for use. Free options exist on both fonts.google.com and fonts.adobe.com. Some examples of close typefaces are Libre Baskerville (Google), and Baskerville PT (Adobe). Free Google fonts also have the ability to be downloaded.

Typeset examples

Heading level I

This law requires the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) to create the Civil Rights Cold Case Records Collection and requires federal agencies to turn over copies of any remaining records from Civil Rights Era cold cases to NARA for inclusion in the collection and release to the public.

Heading level II

Heading level III

The board is charged with reviewing the records of Civil Rights era cold criminal cases of murders and other racially motivated violence that occurred between 1940 and 1979. Many of these records are still closed to the public.

Heading level IV

The board will examine agency decisions to withhold access and to engage with them to determine if the records should still be withheld.

Headling level V

Legislation sponsor Sen. Doug Jones (D-AL) said his “hope is that this legislation will help us find some long-overdue healing and understanding of the truth in the more than 100 unsolved civil rights criminal cases that exist today.”

Heading level VI

The legislation, which was modeled on the JFK Assassination Records Act, was passed with the assistance of a determined lobbying effort by teacher Stuart Wexler and the students of Hightown High School in New Jersey.
